Practicing some scarification for my Editorial look.

This is my first attempt at doing scarification on the face.If i was going to do this look again The scars on the face need to have more defined ends like they've been cut in using a knife.
I am not sure about the neck i think i might try this look again with some beans maybe as the cuts don't really look like cuts.they look more like a necklace. This is a good learning experience though and i am glad i tried it.

the pattern is firstly marked onto the body then scratched in using a knife leaving a scar.

Looking at shapes in books for inspiration for scarification.

Experimenting

Trying out some scars on my arm.I used string and latex with foundation applied on top.

                                                           THE BRITISH MUSEUM.
from visting the British Museum i have learnt a great deal about African colors. From looking back at all of my pictures i am feeling a very earthy brown and vibrant orange .

possible face markings or down the arms???

The model looks like hes crying.possible scarification markings??

I love the markings on this model.

I like the clashing of colors and patterns.
A possible idea for my catwalk look???

This reminds me of some sort of armor the model could wear for the catwalk look?
The fabric was created using bottle tops which have been crushed and sewed together.

My model could have pieces of wood coming out of her face??

looking at African pottery for shapes and color inspirations.

possible head gear for my model??

More terrifying marking possibly more for a scare factor look??

I love the read face and the fact that its dripping on to the feathers with this beautiful electric yellow!!

A possible mouth piece??

TEXTURES

I have collected some primary research of patterns and texture i am feeling inspired by. I have done this to see how tribes are inspired by their surrounding. The patterns and shapes being very influential in the makeup and their clothing.

Tribes people  find inspiration from plants, pots, trees, flowers, mud, animals and scenery.
 A lovely woven texture
 Very inuit looking
Leathers very good for animal resources.I also really like the distressed look of the leather.
Patterns on the leather are beautiful and also the brassiness of the bag is stunning!i also really like the copper look to the buckle
 tribal like pattern very colorful!
This was the fur look of a teddy bear i found i liked the colour of the fur
a silver bangle a possible tribe accessory??
 woven wool like pattern-beautiful colours!!
Another fur i liked!

Looking at composition

Beau Big Crow competed as a dancer at Pow Wows around the Midwest.
I like the way this image has been composed, the man Beau Big Crow is a dancer  from Oglala. He has been pictured with all his loves and simply decorated from head to toe!

london trip
Here are some images from the Tim Walker exhibition in Somerset house London.

I like the way each image has been photographed in its own unique style in order to portray a different message.
I Like the second image down of the girl hovering over the doll i feel the same image could be created with a tribe member hovering over its prey.
The girl at the bottom looks like she has just had a romantic fling and now is bearing his jacket and her lipstick is all smudged and her hair is all messy. The image has been taken in such a way that it leaves you thinking she feels bad for the interaction as she looks almost like shes about to cry.
